Honoring Paul Wellstone: Memorial Website Creation

In October 2002, a plane carrying Senator Paul Wellstone tragically crashed near this site enroute to Eveleth airport. As the 20th anniversary of the crash approached, we were honored to design a website for the Memorial Site. The site pays tribute to Paul Wellstone’s career, remembers those lost in the crash, and highlights the serene beauty of the memorial location. We are proud of the finished product and grateful to contribute to this meaningful project.

Website Design

We started this project from scratch and designed a simple logo inspired by Paul Wellstone’s political campaign logo. The website presents the memorial site’s history, Paul Wellstone’s legacy, and tributes to others lost in the crash. It also provides acknowledgments and clear directions for visitors exploring the site.

Our team maintained a serious tone and kept the design simple to ensure accessibility and respectfulness. Visitors can learn about Paul Wellstone’s impact while appreciating the memorial’s natural beauty.

Virtual Walkthrough

The centerpiece of this website is a Virtual Walkthrough of the memorial site, an exciting feature we’ve never implemented before. Working with the Matterport team made adding this feature seamless and straightforward. Visitors can explore the memorial virtually, read plaques, and experience its essence without being there in person.

This feature is especially valuable for those unable to visit the memorial site physically. It offers an immersive experience that brings the site to life.
